Abhishek Tripathi, an engineering graduate, takes up a government job as the Panchayat Secretary in the remote village of Phulera due to a lack of better options. Disappointed with the village lifestyle and poor facilities, he decides to prepare for the CAT exam to escape this job.

In Phulera, Abhishek meets Brij Bhushan Dubey, the de facto Pradhan, though the post is officially held by his wife, Manju Devi. Abhishek also works closely with Vikas, his assistant, and Prahlad, the deputy Pradhan. He faces several quirky challenges, a haunted tree, the theft of a government chair, issues over solar lights, a family planning campaign, and his own discomfort with rural life.

Though often frustrated, Abhishek starts to bond with the villagers and slowly adapts to the local culture. His relationships with Brij Bhushan, Vikas, and Prahlad deepen, and he begins to see the village in a new light. The season ends with Manju Devi finally stepping up to perform her duty by hoisting the national flag on Independence Day, while Abhishek, still studying, starts to appreciate the simple but meaningful life around him.
