Yuta Okkotsu, a shy high school student plagued by bullying, finds his life upended when a powerful Cursed Spirit, Rika, his deceased childhood friend, brutally kills his tormentors. The Jujutsu Society views Yuta as a threat and seeks his execution, but teacher Satoru Gojo intervenes, enrolling him at Tokyo Jujutsu High in November 2016. Yuta bonds with fellow students Maki Zen'in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, gradually learning to harness his immense cursed energy.
As Yuta trains, he uncovers that Rika’s curse originated from his own grief and denial of her death, tied to ancient bloodlines. When the rogue sorcerer Suguru Geto launches an attack to steal Rika’s power, Yuta refuses to join him, defending his friends despite overwhelming odds. During the battle, Yuta sacrifices himself to Rika, briefly strengthening her to defeat Geto. The battle ends with Gojo confronting and executing his former friend. With Rika freed and her soul at peace, Yuta continues training. In a post-credits moment, Yuta is seen in Kenya with Miguel, peacefully enjoying lunch, signifying a new chapter, as Gojo arrives, smiling.
