I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

A quiet, unnamed high school boy stumbles upon a diary in a hospital waiting room, only to discover it belongs to his lively classmate, Sakura Yamauchi. The diary reveals her heartbreaking secret: she has a terminal illness in her pancreas. Intrigued by his calm response, Sakura confides in him, and the two form an unlikely friendship. Drawn together by the weight of her secret, they begin to spend time outside school, sharing meaningful moments and exploring Sakura’s bucket list.

During a trip to Fukuoka, their bond deepens as they play games and share a hotel room, causing gossip and tension among classmates. Their connection strengthens, even as Sakura's health declines. One night, after sneaking out to watch fireworks from her hospital stay, Sakura invites him to lunch, but never arrives. He later learns she was fatally stabbed in an unprovoked attack, leaving him shattered.

Haunted by grief, he visits her mother, who gives him Sakura's diary and a heartfelt message. Learning her final thoughts and sharing them with her best friend Kyoko, he begins healing. A year later, Haruki and Kyoko visit Sakura’s grave together, honouring her memory.
