In 2006, best friends Patrick Zweig and Art Donaldson won the boys' junior doubles at the US Open. They become enamoured with Tashi Duncan, who wins the girls' singles title. After a shared moment in a hotel room ends abruptly, Tashi challenges them: she’ll give her number to the winner of the boys' singles final. Patrick wins and subtly reveals he’s slept with Tashi, straining the trio’s bond.
At Stanford, Tashi and Art play college tennis while Patrick turns pro. As tensions grow, Tashi injures her ACL during a match that Patrick skips. Their relationship fractures, and Art supports her recovery. Tashi and Art grow close and begin dating.
Years later, Tashi and Art, now married with a daughter, struggle with Art’s declining career. At a low-tier tournament, Patrick resurfaces. Tashi asks him to lose the final to help Art retire on a high note. Patrick agrees but seduces her again.
In a fiery final, Patrick signals his betrayal, enraging Art. Yet the match awakens their love for tennis. In a dramatic final volley, they collide, embracing at the net. Tashi shouts, “Come on!” rekindling their shared fire.
